Mariners sweep Reds with 1-0 win

Rowland-Smith (1-6) gave up three hits to go with a season-high five walks and two strikeouts in his first win since October 3, 2009 versus Texas. David Aardsma recorded his 15th save of the year for Seattle, which has won four straight.

Aaron Harang (5-7) lasted six frames, allowing one run on three hits with four strikeouts to take the hard-luck loss. He fell to 1-4 in six lifetime appearances against the Mariners.

Seattle got the only run they needed in the fourth. Chone Figgins and Jose Lopez singled to put men on the corners with one out. Gutierrez then lofted a fly ball to center, which allowed Figgins to score.

Cincinnati's best chance to score came in the seventh. The Reds put runners on second and third with one out. Brandon League, though, struck out Orlando Cabrera and Brandon Phillips to end the threat.

The Mariners are 8-1 all-time against the Reds and prevailed in two of three showdowns between the clubs at Safeco Field during the 2007 campaign...Seattle activated shortstop Jack Wilson from the 15-day disabled list on Sunday and optioned infielder/outfielder Matt Tuiasosopo to Triple-A Tacoma.
